The Directorship Check Process

A direct, API-driven lookup against the government's own company registry.
1
PAN Confirmed
PAN is the mandatory input. If another ID was used for the identity check, an insufficiency is raised specifically for the PAN card.
2
Name Search Run
The name on the PAN card is searched against MCA director records in both orders, for example Priya Sharma and Sharma Priya.
3
Result Interpreted
Results are checked against the candidate’s name; without other identifiers, matches remain unconfirmed.
4
Graded & Reported
A name match is never graded Discrepant, even when it is exact. Clients can submit an affidavit to request a regrade.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Directorship Check?
ExpandCollapse
It checks whether a candidate holds a directorship with a company registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). The name on the candidate's PAN card is searched against MCA director records.
Does the candidate need to provide their own DIN?
ExpandCollapse
No. The only required document is the candidate's PAN card. The search runs on the name as it appears on the PAN, so no DIN is needed.
What's the difference between Directorship Check and DIN Verification?
ExpandCollapse
Directorship Check is a name search of MCA director records. It does not fetch or verify a DIN, and it is not the same as a DIN Check or a Cross Directorship Check.
Does this cover shareholders or investors?
ExpandCollapse
No. Investor or shareholder status without a director role is covered by a separate, deeper Company Verification check — not included here.
What if the candidate has no directorships at all?
ExpandCollapse
That's the most common result. When the search finds no matching director record, the report states that no directorship was found.
What happens if the search finds a name match?
ExpandCollapse
It is reported as a possible match, never as Discrepant, because the search has only the candidate's name to go on. The client can discuss it with the candidate and, if needed, collect a notarised affidavit and request a regrade.
