The Compensation Check Process

A custom check added to a candidate's package on request, not a default step in every screening.
1
PAN Confirmed
PAN is mandatory to initiate. If it isn't available, an insufficiency is raised for the PAN document or number.
2
Assessment Year Determined
The relevant financial and assessment year is calculated from the candidate's last working date (FY = AY minus one year).
3
Form 26AS Initiated
The check is initiated for the relevant assessment year—covering one or both employers, based on the candidate’s employment history.
4
Report Attached & Recorded
Once obtained, Form 26AS is attached with the compensation recorded. If unavailable, the check is graded Inconclusive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Compensation Check?
ExpandCollapse
It verifies the compensation a candidate declared for a given assessment year using Form 26AS, their consolidated tax statement from the Income Tax Department. It's added as a custom check on client request, separate from the instant Form 26AS check used elsewhere in our process.
How is this different from the instant Form 26AS check?
ExpandCollapse
SpringVerify also runs a standalone, instant Form 26AS check as a fast supporting confirmation typically bundled with Employment Verification - it pulls the same government document. Compensation Check is a separate, purpose-built check that requires the candidate's Employment Verification to already be initiated (so it knows which employer and year to pull), and its job is specifically to report the compensation figure for that year - not just confirm employment. The two aren't interchangeable, and adding one doesn't replace the other.
Does SpringVerify tell us if a candidate lied about their CTC?
ExpandCollapse
We attach the actual Form 26AS report and state the compensation for that year as a plain comment on the check. Comparing that figure against what the candidate declared to you is your team's call - SpringVerify doesn't itself grade the check as a mismatch.
What happens if the candidate's PAN isn't available?
ExpandCollapse
PAN is mandatory to initiate this check. If it isn't available, an insufficiency is raised for the PAN document or number before the check can proceed.
What if the candidate held two jobs in the relevant year?
ExpandCollapse
Form 26AS is pulled for both employers for the relevant assessment year, based on the employment details from the candidate's BGV form.
What if the Form 26AS report can't be obtained?
ExpandCollapse
The check is graded Inconclusive, with a comment noting that the Form 26AS details could not be obtained.
